Wanted:
One retirement home, fully furnished in a retro-modern style, in a great location. Walking distance to great restaurants and delis like Postino's and LGO and a no maintenance yard, save for the requisite cactus and palm tree. Grapefruit tree-lined street a must and a social club where regular Scrabble players frequent is a bonus. This home won't be needed for another twenty years or so, but I am under advisement I should start putting my pennies by now!
It goes without saying:
I LOVED ARIZONA!!!
The people, the restaurants, the shopping, the lovely DRY heat, the palm trees and the cacti.
Beautiful, stylish people and all the younger men had cool, funky hairstyles.
I just might have to chase the handyman around the house with a tub of styling gel in hand!
And as for my hair?
Four days of frizz-free hair!!
That's reason enough to retire there, don't you think?

I love Arizona too. You names it...the air, palm trees, beautiful sunshine. Oh so nice:)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving Arizona more and more these days, but I didn't love it much when I lived there for a few years back in the 70s. So glad that you had a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteGlad you've figured out your retirement destination...I'm heading back to Ireland...so we can take turns visiting one another!
ReplyDeleteWell, I am retired here in Arizona, and I do like it, except for the 112 degrees we are suppossed to have tomorrow. Most of the time I think it is ok though. You are right that there are some wonderful restaurants and some really nice people. Save your pennies, it's getting more expensive all the time. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteMy grandparents lived there for years because of the air as he had a laryngectomy in the early70's.They LOVED it. I would live UNDER A ROCK if it would keep my hair from frizzing!! Mark me a stake when you plant yours there HA! SO glad it was a great trip and can't wait to read all about the interview. PS Loved the wardrobe you bought to take!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a grand time!
ReplyDeleteMy parents live in Arizona half the year. It's truly the most beautiful place. Here is last year's trip - http://newlywoodwards.blogspot.com/2010/04/there-is-arizona.html. Their backyard is so gorgeous, it is straight off the 17th hole of a golf course (grass with no maint.) and then Superstition Mountain. I would never leave. =)
ReplyDeleteI live in the Pacific Northwest....what a difference in scenery.. :-) It's quite beautiful, and frizz free hair? HEAVEN.
ReplyDeleteWarm blessings,
Spencer
Great place!! I wouldn't mind living there
ReplyDeleteI have lived most of my adult life in the mountains of Utah and the evergreens of the Puget Sound in Washington, but I grew up in Mesa,AZ. My ancestors have been there since the 1880's even without air conditioners! I miss my desert home terribly from time to time. Especially this spring when we got snow up until a week ago!
ReplyDeleteYou have grand taste in retirement areas. Your hair will suffer the frizzies during the summer monsoons though...hate to tell ya!
Looks great, I would love frizz free hair!
ReplyDeleteI adore the view especially the top photo overlooking the town. very nice and relaxing..
ReplyDeleteArizona has it's charm.
ReplyDeleteBut the heat? :/
So glad you loved our beautiful state. Arizona is very special. www.satisfiedsole.com
