How much planning goes into the decorating of your home's exterior? For many, a wreath and a a few twinkly lights on the shrubbery nearby is suffice. However, for those of you wishing to pack a holiday punch for your guests (and Santa himself) as they cross the threshold of your home, perhaps a little bit more is needed. Of course, it is a need/want thing, but don't these photos leave you wanting more??

As I see it, if the outside of a home makes your jaw drop open, then just imagine what holiday splendour awaits one inside...

Now, off you go to design your own dazzling entry: make Santa proud!!
Of course, a fairy door needs a little Christmas spirit, too!!**photos 1 and 3 are from Better Homes and Gardens.com
**photos 2 and 4 are from Cottage Living.com (Tria Giovan and Wendell Webber, respectively)
**fairy door photo is my own...

I love the gold balls in the first picture. Now my wheels are turning. Hmmmmm ~Mindy
ReplyDeleteOh my....I'm all over the icy look of that first photo. It's really difficult to go all out in this climate and we're really not into assembling the decor in September.

Oh, some beautiful doors!! We have to go in a bit different direction...not so much the red and green and spruce, but more fuscia and lime and orange leaves (its a tropical thing!)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving you...you are feeding my Christmas longing! I usually go all out for Christmas, making quite a few of the decorations myself. We're supposed to get snow w/in the next few days, so that will really kick the mood into gear for me!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures!
Those are so gorgeous! Love them all, but if I had to chose one for my fantasy front, I am drooling over door number one! :) With the holidays almost here, how inspiring !!!

ReplyDeleteLove these doors!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the first photo.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any electrical plugs on the front of my house which makes lights particularily difficult. I should have planned ahead when doing my renovation but holiday decorating was the farthest thing from my mind at that point.
I love that little fairy door....how adorably cute!
ReplyDeleteI have never done Christmas decor until after Thanksgiving, but you sure are making it difficult to wait. Love these beautiful Christmas entries. laurie

Love to see what others do. Never do it quite right myself. Sigh. I flunked Christmas 101.
ReplyDeleteDoor number one is gorgeous! You think I can pull it off?

We still haven't figured out how to decorate this house's exterior. But I have to decorate my door each year. I really want to hang a wreath on every window, but it probably won't happen this year. Maybe next... But I have been thinking about just what to do this year - yes, I'm a planner.
ReplyDeleteI just love your blog...it is a chance for me to get back in touch with my feminine side......I live with a bunch of boys so pretty and soft colors would not fly around here....thanks for the fix!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us know about the glittery Eiffel Tower decorations at Canadian Tire. I went and bought one for my daughter, who was an exchange student in France for 3 months this past year, to put in her stocking. Not only is it sweet but a steal for $0.99.
ReplyDeletecheers,
Blueberry
i got lots of good stuff on clearance last year and i am ready for a big outdoor display this year! i have never really cared but our block goes pretty big so it's been fun to try a little harder. :)
ReplyDeleteOMG...I lovvveee your fairy door!
ReplyDeleteThis is my first year with an outside (my first year of mannnnny outside of an apartment) and I haven't even thought of what to do! I've always loved fresh evergreen so I'm hoping to use some branches to wrap around my front porch.
I am enjoying your blog and picture #3 made my heart sing. Thanks for sharing. rms vickydarnell
ReplyDeleteI would love to "do" the exterior but I'm afraid that it would not stay for very long...... someone stole my pumpkin on halloween...I think probably because we didnt answer because we were out tricking and treating .... I just love looking at all the lovely ideas and dreaming that perhaps that I too one day will be able to do it.
ReplyDeleteyou know my feelings on Christma before Fall is done---but I must admit I got a little rush of excitement for decorating the door after looking at those pictures :)!
ReplyDeleteI love that first photo! It is so pretty. I need to go Christmas shopping for decorations. I don't really have much of anything- yet. Have a nice day!
