I just had to do it. Considering it is one of the top google searches that lead new people to my blog - running head to head with those googling Matthew Mead, robin's egg blue, and re-doing campers - I felt it was time to deliver some more photos of mudroom lockers. It goes without saying I have shown my own mudroom locker photos more than enough. Still, for those who are new to my blog, I dutifully offer them up again:

I love the functionality of those lockers more than it is reasonable to love any inanimate object. But, with three busy kids and a husband who works in the woods (read: muddy work boots and jackets humming of the essence of wild raisin - sooo not nice), I really need the containment of disorder that my serviceable mudroom offers me. With easy to reach hooks and baskets, things actually get hung up and placed in their rightful home.
For those of you dreaming of adding mudroom lockers to your own home, by all means go ahead and take the plunge if at all possible. You will never regret it; and you, too, can join the leagues of homeowners seeking "a place for everything, and everything in its place!" Take inspiration from the following photos, and enlist a handy person in your life (perhaps it's you!), and just do it!!
The following are all photos from Better Homes and Gardens.com :

Well, there you have it. If you can't find a style of locker here that you like, perhaps you are seeking the traditional metal lockers of our youth. Try scouting around your local schools for cast-offs, and certainly attend any sales that feature discards from school closures and/or tear downs. Your local flea markets might yield some vintage varieties as well, so put your feelers out! I will also feature some great photos soon of alternative ways to carve out a mudroom space... without actually having to build a whole new home! Yep, just call me your ``go to gal`` for mudroom ideas and inspiration!!

I love the idea of a mudroom but it is not an area Australian homes are built with. I have a hat and shoe station in the garage which is meant to contain the mess, but it is just not the same. WIll save these pictures for my dream house and look forward to your alternate mudroom ideas post!

You can never have enough pretty locker photos! And yours look every bit as gorgeous as those stylized magazine ones! Currently, my poor mud room only has rows of hooks and some steps to sit down on---but one day we'll graduate to lockers too :)!
ReplyDeleteMud rooms are the best. Otherwise our junk is scattered everywhere. Pure Chaos. Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteBrittany
Gosh they are all so lovely.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could have something like that in our home.
I really need to get something like this built in my house before winter rears its ugly head. I won't be able to stand the boots and hats/coats, etc. all over the place! Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHey, Go-To Gal! This was a great post. I don't know why mudrooms and mudroom storage is so appealing, but it's exciting just to see photos of them!
ReplyDeleteI went to the local Homearama home show last week and out of the 10 houses we toured, at least 7 had back hallways with mudroom storage like these in them. Loved it. -Julia
oh those are so clever!
ReplyDeleteIM new to your blog :) very nice. hoping ILl be making many more trips here :)
I love these all. I have a trio of very old metal lockers that were taken out of a school. One day I will paint them up but for now, they are very useful and I love that I can close the doors and hide the clutter inside.
ReplyDeleteVery cute - and full of storage, gotta love that!

I hope someday you publish pictures of sewing rooms or craft rooms. I have been trying to re-do my sewing room and while I am getting there I need some inspiration. Also wish I had a mud room but that will never happen in this house. By the way, I live in NH not far from Matthew Mead. I often see him in the antique or consignment store I like to visit. Usually he has already grabbed some fantastic item that if I had seen it right before him, it would be in my hands instead of his! He has a great eye.
ReplyDeletethank you so much for the mudroom photos!!! I am addicted to your blog and loving your style!!! We are hoping to incorporate some pretty lockers in our new addition...and needed some ideas...perfect timing! -jess
ReplyDeleteHi, Linda, those are all beautiful. I don't have a mudroom, but I can see where they'd come in handy. Great storage!

Thanks for the inspiration! These are all great! Sooo necessary with kids!
ReplyDeleteI have admired those photos on Better Homes and Gardens for a long time now. We have a great mudroom area, but it's long and narrow. I've been wanting mudroom lockers for awhile now, but unfortunately my hubby is not a carpenter in the least and it's sort of low on the priority list.
ReplyDeleteI love your lockers!
I've always loved this idea, but when the main door of the house now opens on the main room of the house...sigh.
ReplyDeleteYour husband did an absolutely fabulous job with the cubbies. Do you and he have one of your own?
Great post! I have a small laundry room which is functional as a laundry room but when it comes time to redo our master bath, I am going to get rid of the huge garden tub (we've used exactly twice) and steal some space to build lockers like the first picture after your BH&G link. (But I love the color on yours so they may not be white.) Thanks for the inspiration. Now if you could just inspire me to find a place for a Butler's Pantry in my ranch style home, I'd be in heaven. ;-) JoAnne
ReplyDeleteLove the ideas! I found your page through Elizabeth at Mabel's House and instantly added your blog to my list of sites to visit. I wish I lived in your home. It is so beautiful! It is so peaceful to look at. Thanks for inviting everyone in.
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart!! Why oh, why doesn't every home come with some form of mud room??? I think it should be standard issue - especially in locales with looong winters and muddy springs.
ReplyDeleteYou can bet it is on my list of 'must have' for the next home! Love your pix - as always.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteThose cupcakes are from a store right beside Nestings , which is closed now , I guess they didn't do so well, you said it wasn't so good or pricey probably both , good thing you checked them out before it closed.
mudrooms as big as an average dutch living room ghehehehe I do have a kind of mudroom though only it ia one sqaere meter ;)
ReplyDeleteThat looks fabulous! (No need for me to google Matthew Mead, you've been on my favorites list for a very long time.) ;-)
ReplyDeleteGuess what? I found your blog by searching for mudroom lockers. Thanks for all of the great ideas! I love them, all ;)
ReplyDeleteGuess what? I found your blog by searching for mud room lockers. Thanks for all of the great ideas!!!
ReplyDeleteI am looking to build lockers and our space is limited. How wide are the green lockers that your husband built? Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteHi - I too am searching for ideas for mudroom lockers and happened upon your blog. Your husband's are the nicest I've seen. I am wondering how wide you chose to build them. I see the pre-fab ones on Pottery Barn are 12" wide but that doesn't seem big enough. I've also read 18". Seeing that yours are working in a busy household, would you mind sharing the dimensions?
ReplyDeleteWe are building a house on an acre. Having lived in several homes without even an entry closet, I am all about hooks. Now I'm designing a mudroom with a house built around it. Husband does construction and we have a substantial winter & mud season. Have been wanting to have a place for the boot dryer, soaked coats, snow pants, plus the backpacks, musical instruments, etc. Great pictures, lots of inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog about 4 weeks ago and found the inspiration to make my own lockers. My wife loves them. I spent about $500 total and it was well worth the money.
ReplyDeleteThanks again
Brian
I wish I had a mudroom, because i love that everyone can have their own locker to hang up their stuff, such as back backs, jackets, etc. How about a mudroom locker in the garage? Could that work?
ReplyDeleteThe lockers in your mudroom are so cool! They looked nice in the room and it did not took a lot of space.
ReplyDeleteI am building a home with lockers and would LOVE to copy the color of the lockers that are shown in a photo with a brick floor. It is a taupe/olive color. I would b eternally grateful if you could tell me the name of the paint color... Thanks, Paula
ReplyDeleteSorry, Paula; the image was one taken from a website and I have no ideas as to the colour.
ReplyDeleteSorry I couldn't be of help!
Cheers,
Linda
Thank you for your mud room ideas. I'm loving them and now I just need to find someone to build some for our family.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful mud room lockers but so NOT practical. My mudroom has 2 closets with doors. I use one for shoes and my husband's most needed tools. The other is for winter jackets and the top shelves are for cleaning products and other things we don't use as often. I shut the doors and nobody needs to see any mess or dirt. Clean and practical. :)
